View Full Version : Dear God: It's me, the Dog

Ludwig
December 7th, 2013, 3:18 PM
Dear God:

Is it on purpose that Our Names are spelled the same, only in reverse?

Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?

When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or will it be the same old story?

Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a Dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We love a nice car ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the 'Chrysler Beagle'?

If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad Dog?

We Dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?

More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?

Here is a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog:

1. I will not eat the cat's food before he eats it or after he throws it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.

4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.

5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.

7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'.

8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.

9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.

10. I will not come in from outside, and immediately drag my butt across the carpet.

11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room, and lick my crotch.

12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy', so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven, will I still be neutered?

He's older now. I found him 13 years ago where I used to work in Leander. Was just hanging around the building, someone said he'd been around for a few days, so was obviously just dumped. Bought him some food and he wouldn't leave my side. Tossed him in my car and brought him home. I figured if he was still here in a few days I would take him to the vet, which I did, and the vet examined him and figured he was about two years old at the time, was neutered, and was in generally excellent health. He's my buddy.

December 9th, 2013, 12:59 PM
That he is. You want rid of that rat? Guaranteed results. One morning I freaked out when I got up, walked down the hallway and took a glance in the kids' bathroom. There was half of one of the largest rats I have even seen - head down to behind its front legs. He used to go into the woods and down the hill behind the house and clean out the vermin. One time a few years ago he came through the doggie door with a huge lizard in his mouth. My daughter screamed, startled him so he dropped it, the lizard started running around so my daughter pushed open the patio door and out runs the lizard. The cat goes half the speed of light through the doggie door after him. lol
He's slowed down now. About one year ago tangled with a raccoon and got his butt kicked pretty good. But I also saw the raccoon a couple of days later and he was all beat up too. lol

My son left his dresser drawer open yesterday....I found one of our cats sound asleep on top of the PJ's.
I am one of the blessed ones....my cats seem to not notice the large tree in the living room covered in what, apparently according to every other cat owner I know, is cat toys. They haven't touched the tree. Weird. But I usually find them in weird places or way up high on top of things. For the life of me, I can't imagine how they get UP on the schrank the way they do....but they are there quite often.

CenTexDave
December 13th, 2013, 10:59 AM
Declawing is expensive and very painful for the kitten.
Just get it a scratch post and try to train it to use the post.
Mine usually goes outside to my pile of firewood and tries to shred a log. If I catch him in the house trying it all I have to do is give him the look with a "Ehhh!" and he's running.

Scarlett

I also go to Dr. Murray at Aztec. Both my cats were fixed and de-clawed there.
It's a lot less painful for them to get that done than it is to deal with my wrath if they shred my furniture!
My cats recovered very quickly. The big one still goes outside...she refuses to stay IN. But for over 4 years she goes out, roams around her hood, and knocks on the door when she is ready to come back in. It freaks my friends out...it sounds just like a person knocking on the door...and when I open it, the cat strolls in giving me the typical cat look of, "What took you so long, human?"
If I don't answer fast enough, she will go around and knock on the back door. If I ignore that one, and I have already gone to bed, she goes to my bedroom window and knocks on it until I go to the back door and let her in. She is rather persistent...it is either let her in or stay awake listening to her knocking!
