A new group of locals has purchased Mill Creek Golf Course, and their plans look promising for bringing the course back to where it should be. Along with floods and bad management, the guy who bought it several years ago had let go practically to ruin. He had closed many of the 27 holes; new owners will restore and improve all 27 holes. With the golf course in bad shape, members had left in droves and businesses in Salado had also suffered, including historic Stagecoach Inn. Former general manager Mike Cameron will supposedly be back, and locals are happy with the guy who will be doing the day-to-day running of the pro shop. They also intend to re-open the former dining facility on weekends. Word is, former members are rejoining in droves.
Good news for the economy, property values, and golfers! The Mill Creek course once had one of the best tracks in the area.
