View Full Version : Transferring to New Host (Please Read!!!)

Rick
December 28th, 2012, 5:59 PM
The request to transfer has been submitted and since it will take 24-48 hours for the request to start, and I don't know exactly when, I won't be closing the forum. It is likely that we will lose some posts in the process.

I will either close it or redirect while the domain propagates.

See you on the other side! :))

Not yet, I am still waiting for the files and database to be transferred.

Here we are.

I am seeing some differences already, mainly, some processes on the admin control panel are no longer blacklisted and those errors have disappeared.

So far so good.

Let me know if you have any problems or if you notice any improvement.

Rick

Some of you sacrifice things for the fun of it. I won't stand in your way.

This is screaming on Forum Runner and Tapatalk.

I should have made this move earlier.

Quite a significant difference from the other, all the way around. Thanks and Have a Great and happy New Year Rick. :bouncing

I don't know what the numbers were, but getting a Wow! from you is a good thing...lol

I got a good deal. Much more space and a ton of bandwidth, and what they call a semi-dedicated server which they claim helps with the speed. It allows for 50 concurrent MySQL connections. http://www.mddhosting.com/semidedicated.php

Not bad for $25.00 per month.

I haven't moved a site for 11 years, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Last time, it took three days to propagate. Today, it only took a few minutes before the change showed up on whois and I was opening the forum back up.

Hey Rick,

The numbers represent signal latency (expressed in milliseconds) between hops.
Your numbers in the past were quadrupled - 200+ milliseconds.
I was getting 404 errors to the point of annoyance.
$25.00 mo is really good for the bandwidth you are receiving.

So was everybody else.

My apologies for not getting this done sooner.

RickI don't know about everyone else, but for the past few days I have been getting that same old 'you have made changed, and leave or stay' box again. And the "forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between posts. Please try again in 43 seconds." after I hit the "leave" button.

Just to be clear, I haven't lost any posts, but seeing a slow response, and an extraneous error message.

And, of course, as soon as I posted this, the problem (that has been ongoing for a few days) disappears. :)

I've had it too, but nothing happens when I continue to back out of a thread.

I haven't encountered this problem since you moved to the new host. Could be due to the fact that I'm not in Texas... 8-;

I had the thing going on where it said you must wait 60 seconds between posts, then when I go back to the forum, I see that what I posted actually did post after all.

There are a lot of "do you want to navigate away from this page" thingies too. It's bearable, but a pain.

Maybe it's sensing when we are about to post something stupid and says "Naaaah...I don't think so"..

Wish it would work on a few others around here too.:))
