Have you checked into having a pet sitter? I have used one in the past and I have even watched some doggies before.

A friend uses Southern Star Ranch in Briggs. They charge her $180.00/wk for her great dane. She brings her own food, as a personal thing. The phone number is 254 793 8173.

I use Town and Country on Elms. My dogs love it there. If you board the dogs together, I believe it is only about 25.00 a day. My dogs absolutely love it there. The people are great.

I have used Southern Star Ranch to board my animals for years. The owners/operators are wonderful, caring people who are great with the animals. I take my pets' food, but that's my preference. I believe Southern Star provides food if you wish (double check on that one, though). I know they also give military discounts. My dog loves it there, and I appreciate the spacious indoor/outdoor kennels--though they do not let the animals out if the weather is too hot. The kennel has always been spic and span when I've seen it, and you can access your pets every day of the week (though the kennel has set hours, and the time frame is only a few hours on Sundays). They also offer doggie yard play time, though that is an extra charge.

All Great suggestions and even the private messages I've received.
$180/Wk X2 dogs is too high.
$25/day Is about as good as I have found, so then quality of care is important. AC in kennels and outdoor time is on top of my priorities. Clean is a no-brainer.
The thing about the price is that I could buy airfare for the dogs to travel with me for the same $ depending on length of trip.
I do like the accessibilty factor. the one I use is closed on Saturday so have to pay extra day if pickup or drop off on Saturday is preferred. (Drop off Friday or pickup Sunday)
The pet sitter thing... well I had a pet sitter and house sitter but they flaked on me and my dogs (who never do) had accidents in the house several times.
So thanks all and I'm sure that Grace will lead me in the right direction.

I don't know that they charge $180/wk for all dogs. That amount is simply what they charged her for her small horse of a dog. I would give them a call to see what they would charge for your little guys.

ralph: you might wanna give that outfit down at the end of ann blvd a shout before you go final. i can't 'member their name right now but they allow 2 dogs per kennel and weren't all that expensive. aztek is pretty good too......but maybe a bit pricey.....mac

Connie, SW corner of Trimmier and Stan Schleuter, did an excellent job caring for my two babies for a couple of weeks. I forget what she charged but I remember it was more than reasonable.

I highly recommend Stillhouse Pet Hotel, Chaparral Rd, 501-7298. Excellent facility, large outdoor area. Access to outdoors from their own room.
The have a web page at www.stillhousepets.com. I use their facility for my Geman Shepherd.

I didn't think so, but for the life of me I don't remember what I paid last time. You are right that you get what you pay for. The people there are animal lovers. They do grooming, exercise the animals and provide them with an atmosphere like at home. My dog is well mannered and they love her and often keep her in their office where she has her pillow and the company of adults. I have been more than satisfied.

No way I'd put up with that. I'd sue them for alienation of affection. Next thing you know your dog will run away from home and show up at their place.

Dr. Buckley's clinic, Killeen Vet Clinic boards pets as well. We always board our Shih Tzu there when we go out of town for long periods, and she likes it! I can't remember their prices, but they are very reasonable.

We have taken our dog to the Stillhouse Petmotel. It is very nice and clean, but it is expensive. I believe it was $26 per day for small kennel and $28 for the larger one.

The place at the end of Ann st. is Booker's kennel and pet crematorium.
My dogs were there for the day once (fence repair) and they came back a little traumatized.
